Our Story

Shannon's has become the place for friends and family to gather. Whether it's for a simple bite or a celebration, Shannon's can accomodate the needs of the many and the wants of the few.
Shannon's Five Star opened November 2003. The name "Shannon" is the first name of owner Shannon Patterson. The "Five Star" part is a bit more interesting. At the time the restaurant opened, Shannon was already operating their first restaurant in Downtown Bloomington, "Shannon's Federal Cafe" and since the new restaurant was situated on what was once the Five Star Truck Stop on "Old Route 66", hoping to alleviate confusion of the 2 locations, it seemed only obvious to tack on the "Five Star" with "Shannon's".

Serving Breakfast, Lunch, and More
Owner Shannon opened the original "Shannon's" in the heart of historic Downtown Bloomington, Illinois. "Shannon's Federal Cafe" was the start of something very good! Shannon (Deerwester) Patterson purchased a 3 story building located at 105 W. Front St., February 27, 1997. Renovations began immediately on the main floor which previously housed the original "Federal Cafe", which owner Al Jackson closed in November 1995. The building held historic value in that it had been a restaurant of some sort longer than any other location in town. Shannon's Federal Cafe ran successfully for 8 years until December 2004, when the difficult decision was made to close the location after the new Shannon's Five Star became extremely popular and successful.
